Hi, we’re Ryan and Kankan — husband and wife, partners in life and business, and the duo behind Snap-a-Box. Funny enough, we first met working part-time at a small Chinese restaurant, right after moving to the U.S. We were just trying to make it — scrubbing dishes, prepping orders, chasing tips. We had no idea it would spark a love story and a future restaurant.
Now, after years of hustle and tech adventures, Snap-a-Box is where our worlds finally come together.
From dish pit to district, from piano 🎹 to powerhouse ⚡
Ryan dropped out of college while studying hotel and restaurant management, started as a dishwasher and counter help at Panda Express, and eventually became a district manager overseeing multiple stores. After leaving to start a restaurant tech company, he always dreamed of building something from scratch — but smarter, faster, better.
Kankan taught piano her whole life. But launching Snap-a-Box unlocked something unexpected: she’s got razor-sharp logic, fearless work ethic, and a crazy ability to get things done under pressure. She’s not afraid to get her hands dirty — and somehow always keeps things moving.

Born to cook 👩🍳
While teaching piano and raising two kids, Kankan found another passion quietly rising to the surface — cooking. A natural in the kitchen, she could taste a dish and tell you exactly how it was made. She started crafting her own recipes, blending intuition, family flavors, and pure love for feeding others. Cooking wasn’t just a hobby — it became her creative outlet, her love language, and eventually, the spark behind Snap-a-Box.
Together, we built Snap-a-Box from the ground up — every recipe, every system, every orange detail.

Why we built Snap-a-Box
Chinese food has always been beloved — but it’s often either hard to scale or stuck in the past. We started Snap-a-Box for two reasons:
Tech finally caught up. Stir-frying with wok hei is one of the toughest kitchen skills to master, and it limits how fast restaurants can grow. But with robot-assisted cooking, the most demanding part is now handled with precision — meaning even a beginner can fire dishes like a pro.
We wanted to build smarter — and test our own tools. As creators of restaurant software, owning our own store brings us closer to the real-world kitchen. It grounds our product decisions in reality — and flavor.

Snap-a-Box was built for locals, not tourists. We’re proud to serve the Jordan Ranch, Fulshear, and Katy area — whether it’s dinner after practice or lunch at your desk. We’ve already sponsored youth sports teams, partnered with local school districts, and catered everything from school events to business luncheons.
